Wessex Federation

The Wessex Federation of Rugby Referees is affiliated with the RFRU and is made up of Dorset & Wilts Society of Rugby Football Union Referees and Somerset Rugby Referee Society.

Its aims and objectives are:

To foster close and trusting working relationships between the Societies in all areas of operations, including but not limited to training, coaching, reviewing, development, appointments, promotions and recruitment

To assist and guide the Societies in developing those referees, referee coaches (Coaches) and referee developers (MOD) with genuine potential and ambition to progress to the R1 South-West Match Official Team (R1) and further

To nominate referees, Coaches and MOD from Societies to R1 when the Federation agrees they are ready

To assist and guide the Societies and foster closer working in the recruitment, appointment and development of female referees, Coaches and MOD (Wessex Ladies)

To assist and guide the Societies and foster closer working in the recruitment, appointment and development of Young Match Officials (YMO) between the ages of 14 and 18

The current Chairperson is Christopher Bartlett from Dorset and Wilts and current Secretary is Chris Murphy from Somerset.
