We have about ninety signed up referees but of those only fifty referees have covered all the fixtures. Around forty of these referees have been watched by Referee Coaches and/or MODs; my apologies if I haven’t managed to appoint someone to watch you. Some of the referees watched have just had ‘health checks’ others have been pushing for promotion.
We have 7 active MODs and 5 referee coaches and they have done a fantastic job covering over 66 matches plus 18 matches watching visiting exchange referees. 4 MODs (John Baldwin, Mike Collis, Horace Letchford and Denis Nolan) covered a total of 38 matches, 11 of which were exchanges. The standard of the report writing was high and I believe the majority of comments were helpful to our referees and those on exchange.
The use of more Referee Coaches has been a useful addition to our Development of Dorset and Wilts Referees. Referees who feel they would like to give back something to Rugby have been offering their services to help others.
